GoMediationFamily mediation in Quebec

How it works

How does our family mediation service work?

Reach child custody and child support agreements online with an accredited family mediator who is a member of the Quebec Bar. Eligible Quebec families may get up to 5 hours at no cost.

What happens next?

We start working on your request within 24 hours. Here’s what to expect.

  1. Tell us about your situation

Answer a few questions so we can confirm your eligibility. Everything stays confidential.

  2. We invite the other person

When you send your request, we email them an invitation. Mediation is voluntary, so they choose whether to join.

  3. Meet your mediator online

We match you with an accredited family mediator, member of the Quebec Bar, who helps you both build an agreement that works for your family.

The eligibility check takes 3 short steps. Nothing is sent until you say so.

Is mediation
right for us?

Mediation works best when both people are truly willing to communicate and make decisions together.

  • We want to make family decisions together, with respect.
  • We’re willing to listen to each other, even when it’s hard.
  • We’d prefer a private, flexible process rather than going to court.

Not sure the other person will agree? That’s common. We invite them for you, and taking part is voluntary.

Still unsure? to find out

If you don’t feel safe with the other person, mediation may not be the right path. For confidential help, call SOS violence conjugale at 1-800-363-9010 (free, 24/7). In an emergency, call 911.
